If a pharmaceutical company had a patent on enjoyment, there would be TV commercials about enjoyment every night. Pleasant experiences, such as petting your cat, drinking water when you are thirsty, smiling at a friend, reduce stress hormones, strengthen the immune system and help you to relax when you are frustrated or worried. (Hanson 2018)

Pleasant music activates certain parts of the brain, which process positive effects. In further studies, they suggest that music perceived as pleasurable stimulates the body's reward system, releasing dopamine and endogenous opioids. At the same time, brain structures that process fear and negative emotions are deactivated.
